Reservoir Lining, Covers and Curtains

Butyl Products Ltd. offer design, supply and installation services for reservoir lining, covers and curtains. We will be pleased to quote for your project.
Reservoirs normally require protecting from wildlife and from contamination so should be fenced.

If the reservoir is to double as a landscape feature, treat as a wildlife pond.

Lining
Reservoirs can be used to hold almost any type of liquid so the liner system must be resistant to all the likely chemicals.

As most reservoir uses make protecting the liner difficult, a strong liner that is resistant to ultraviolet light (UV) and ozone as well as being able to deal with the full range of ambient (and liquid) temperatures is required. As a result reservoirs can be lined with any of the geomembranes.

Covers
Many reservoirs are covered to prevent rain water or wind blown debris contaminating the stored liquids. Covers also prevent evaporation.

Reservoir covers float on top of the stored liquid and have facilities for rain water removal. Floats are used to ensure the cover is held in the correct position.

Reservoir covers need to be strong and flexible as well as having the correct chemical resistances so reinforced materials are normally used.

Underground Reservoir Roofs
Potable water reservoirs require a roof structure to prevent leakage into the reservoir. This roof needs waterproofing and a membrane may be installed over the concrete surface. Usually the reservoir roof will be landscaped in order that it blends into the surrounding environment.

Vertical Curtains (Baffle Curtains)
Some reservoirs are fitted with vertical curtains to ensure the correct flow of liquid through the reservoir.

Curtains are manufactured from robust materials that can last a long period fully submerged.

Each curtain is designed to suit the particular requirement.
