There are many types of special 'reservoirs' used in water and sewage treatment including:

All require their own special lining systems and liner protection methods.

Often the liner is just used to provide the liquid containment that is installed below concrete structures.

With aeration ponds and oxidation ditches, problems of liner lifting have to be addressed as part of the lining system selection.

Reed beds, which are often built on poor ground, require linings that will move with ground settlement and a geotextile liner protection material that will be resistant to penetration by the aggressive roots of the reeds or the gravel in which they grow.
