Alive Medical Services is a non-profit medical centre that provides HIV testing, care, treatment,
counselling, and support for over 13,000 HIV-positive clients. Strategically located in Namuwongo,
one of Kampala’s most densely populated and impoverished neighbourhoods, AMS is open 24
hours a day, 7 days a week and provides all services to clients free of charge, with a communitybased
and client-centred approach.
With support from Butyl Products Group, AMS was able to distribute 10 Grifaid family filter
gadgets to 10 families.
The feedback has been very positive with lots of appreciation for the invention:
“The Grifaid family filter is both effective and efficient. Up to 20 litres of ready to drink water can
be filtered in 10 mins or less.” Said Olivia one of the beneficiaries.
“A lot of saving in terms of time and money is made. My Family uses up to 40 litres of water per
day. I find this very reliable for my family to access drinking water at no cost.” Said Betty one of the beneficiaries
The filter is portable making it convenient and easy to use at all times as point of use.

Since we received the family filter we have on a daily basis produced 240 litres of clean water daily.
8 families produce 20 litres each daily and 2 families make 40 litres each daily.
There is now a lot of demand for it!
